Hello everyone, welcome to Smith's School of English Tsuruhashi's homepage.

First of all, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Michael Crawford and I am a teacher/manager at Tsuruhashi Smith's School. I've been teaching there for about four years now and I LOVE my job. Living in Japan and teaching here have been wonderful experiences.

I'm a Canadian, originally from Winnipeg Canada, where I spent most of my younger years studying French as my second language. For the past four years, I've also studied Japanese, so I can understand and relate to the feelings Japanese people have when they first study English conversation.

It's not always easy, but I can promise you one thing: it should be FUN! That, along with our goal to coach you and give you the confidence to speak to foreigners here on the street, at work, when you travel abroad, or anywhere.

Before coming to Japan, I graduated from university and received a degree in Education. I have experience as a professional, teaching English and Social Studies at junior and high school levels. This experience gave me a great deal of training, confidence, and ideas that have been extremely useful as a teacher in Japan.

I mentioned first that I love my job and there are two reasons for that. First, the atmosphere at Tsurushashi Smith School is open, relaxing, and above all friendly. We often organize parties, picnics, and other events with students to help students further practice their English skills in other settings. Second, having my students learn and communicate their feelings to me in English is a great reward.
